Committees and Activities
 
Book Fair

         We hold Scholastic Book Fairs twice a year, in the Fall and Spring offering families the opportunity to buy books at discounted prices!  We also give families an opportunity to donate book money to teachers to help them grow their classroom libraries.
 
Carnival

         Our Fall Carnival is held in October every year and is a great time for families to enjoy games, food, prizes and good old fashioned Carnival Fun!  This is great way to have a great time with your CL Smith Family, friends and community!  We hope to see you there!
 
Chili Cool-off and Donation Drive

NEW THIS YEAR! We decided to take the Chili Cook-off and Donation Drive normally a part of Fall Carnival and make it it's own special event! Sign up to bring a crock pot of chili, buy a bowl and ring in the new school year with your CL Smith family! Drop a check or cash in the Donation Box and 'ring the bell'! 
 
Hospitality

         The Hospitality Committee works hard all year long to organize special events luncheons for our wonderful staff.  Events typically include Halloween, Cookie Parade at the holidays, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day and End-of-the-Year.  Parent volunteers are needed for each event to donate food and drink items.  Please sign up to help take care of our wonderful teaching staff!
 
Ice/Cream Popcorn

* This FUN and very fast event help most Fridays during the school year is a favorite of most students at CL Smith!  This is a great way to end the week and is one of the easiest and fastest ways to get involved with PTA.  It only takes about 20 minutes of your time after school on Fridays to help sell.  Consider signing up for a shift and see how fun and easy it really is!  Popcorn is $.50 and Ice Cream is $1.00.  Please help keep this fun activity open for the kids and get involved!
 
Kona Ice

   Kona Ice currently comes every Tuesday and its located on the black top near the sheds.  When cooler weather comes they may come every other Tuesday.  Cost: Small $3  Medium $4  Cowabunga $5.  PTA gets 20% of the sales! 
 
Inkjet 
*Chairperson: Carolyn Weyel 
         Families are asked to bring in their used inkjet printer cartridges to the office.  We participate in a recycling program that earns our school rewards at Staples.  Your contributions are appreciated!   
 
Membership

         We kick off each school year with our PTA Membership Drive.  Memberships are just $10 per family.  This is an easy and essential way to support CL Smith PTA.  Dues from Memberhips are paid to ensure our active membership in the California State PTA and the remainder is used to support PTA programs and activities.
 
Restaurant Fundraisers

         CL Smith PTA has partnered with several restaurants around town to raise funds through meals!  Enjoy a night off from cooking and support CL Smith at the same time!  Look for scheduled events in the newsletter, on our website and around campus. 
 
Room Representatives

         The Room Rep Chair works to provide communication between the PTA, Room Reps and teachers.  This is a successful program that helps bridge the gap between staff and parents and allows everyone the opportunity to keep up to date.
 
Spirit Wear

         Show off your Superstar spirti!  T-shirts, sweatshirts and more for kids and adults are sold throughout the year.  Students are encouraged to wear their Spirit Wear each Friday to show their school pride and help their classroom win the Spirit Trophy!
 
Wrapping Paper Fundraiser - Genevieve's

         This is our Fall fundraiser and we need your participation!  Packets will be sent home in September and families will be given two weeks to sell great items to friends and neighbors!  If you're interested in helping out with Genevieve's sales, please contact PTA!
 
Yearbook

         The Yearbook is a wonderful way to preserve your school memories for years to come!  All staff, students and special events are featured in our Yearbook.  Additionally, we need parents to submit photos of class activities for inclusion.  Please email photos to Deb Loberstein any photos you take throughout the year! 
 
6th Grade Parent Rep

         Coordinates 6th Grade activities between 6th Grade parents and teachers. 
 
Assemblies

We have many fun and educational assemblies throughout the school year, paid for by the PTA. From storytellers to dance demonstrations, from Science to animals, these assemblies engage and inform our students exposing them to new ideas!
 
Directory

The directory will be emailed in digital format to families with an email address on file. Make sure you save this document as a reference tool to connect with other CL Smith families.
 
BoxTops
*Chairpersons: OPEN
Families are encourage to clip, collect and bring in BoxTops throughout the year. These are sent in and we receive checks twice a year that helps fund our programs! Careful trimming of BoxTops is always appreciated!!
 
Newsletter

Look for important school information and events in the school newsletter. The newsletter will be delivered bi-monthly via email or sent home with your child. To be a part of newsletter, we need at least two volunteers every Monday morning to staple and distribute packets of flyers for those without an email address. This is often the only way some families have to connect with the school and the community so it is an important weekly event. If you have a couple of extra hours on Monday's please consider helping with Newsletter!
